Libourne

The town of Libourne is located where the Isle and Dordogne meet, and enjoys a varied selection of historic monuments that range from the Pont de Pierre bridge, the Church of Saint Jean, the Grand Port Tower, the town hall, and the buildings in the royal square, La Place Royale, with their arched fronts.

Libourne was originally both a sea port, supporting the wine trade, and a freshwater port through which wood was traded along the river, where it was the final destination for barges laden with wood.
